LADY CAPULET
by Melissa Bell What caused the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets? LADY CAPULET, a prequel to Romeo and Juliet, follows the story of Rose from country girl to lady of Verona and explores the betrayal, revenge and manipulations that set the Houses of Capulet and Montague against one other in a time where the influence of family, money, power and gender determine everything. Using evocative language, Melissa Bell asks large questions about women’s place in the culture today through a Shakespearean lens with a strong female lead. Presented as a staged reading as part of the New Works Series on Monday, May 1, at 7pm, at the Bernie Wohl Center. Featuring: ANDREA GOLDMAN as Rose, Lady Capulet; TWINKLE BURKE as the Nurse; TYLER GARDELLA as Lord Montague; KYLE MINSHEW as Lucio Valencio; MICHAEL WIENER as Lord Capulet and CHRIS HALEY reads stage directions CRISTINA LUNDY (Rape of Lucrece, New York Shakespeare Exchange) directs.
